No matter how adept and efficient I get at sewing or how much better my 1/4″ seam gets, I still have to refer back to some tutorials or information a lot of the time. And that includes the ones I’ve written myself, too! These are the three tutorials I keep coming back to regularly, some a little embarrassingly so…
Making Zips Pretty – Do you know how many times I’ve started to sew, only to realise I’ve forgotten to press the scrap fabric incorrectly?! Thank goodness for my unpicker…
HST Tutorials and Formulas – This one I can remember the techniques easily enough, but the tables for working out what size to cut my fabric first are invaluable!
How To Pin From Flickr – Ok, so this one isn’t so much sewing as it is how to keep my sewing Pinterest boards well-stocked of inspiration and ideas! It’s a “pre-sewing” tutorial…

Formulas are something I never can remember, so thank you for that one ๐ I have been known to call my husband at work to do the calculations for me hahahahah ๐

Dear Alyce
I don’t think there’s anything embarrassing about referring back to your own tutorials. You are one busy person with a lot going on. Why is it different than checking back with a recipe when you bake? Or writing down the settings on your machine when you do some decorative stitching? How much can one person remember? By the way, thank you for the great tutorials!

Just a couple of days ago I was googling the measurements for that HST technique and it linked to your tutorial! i still have it open in my browser as I keep double checking it ๐

I was looking for a chart for HST yesterday and was lucky enough to find yours so I didn’t have to do any ugly math. Thanks.
