It’s a very special Sew Cute Tuesday this week! One of our loyal Sew Cute party members, Soma from Whims And Fancies (home of the Doctor Who paper pieced blocks!), is hosting a College Days blog hop full of 10″ blocks perfect for the graduates in our midst. She asked if I would like to join in to design and share a quilt block tutorial. I love designing, and I had the perfect idea in mind, so I said yes! A lot of the blocks on the hop are paper pieced, but this one isn’t, so if you’re not scared of working with 1.5″ pieces, than this block is for anyone!
I studied a Bachelor of Primary Education at college, so a part of my studies was learning how to teach children to read and write. I also added an extra layer of meaning with the fabrics I chose to use. Using Kumiko Fujita text fabrics for the letters was perfect, with the different fonts and text size, and especially the dictionary-esque print! I made sure to avoid the typos though! The background is an Allison Glass text print. You can download the free PDF pattern by clicking here. A gentle reminder to please make sure you link to this blog post and not directly to the PDF should you wish to share this pattern, thankyou!
You can check out the blog hop Flickr group to see some of the other incredible blocks coming out from this blog hop. Plus all the details of giveaways and more!
And now onto the linky party! Please link up your latest sewing or stitching post – WIP or finish, be sure to visit a couple of others, and to link back to here! You can also share your #sewcutetuesday pics on Instagram and be sure to use the hashtag and tag me so I can find you – @blossomheartquilts! Don’t forget you can link up your pics from Instagram here too!
